Stephen has been a surveyor for over 40 years and 2024 marks his 40th anniversary of becoming a Chartered Surveyor. For 35 years he has been involved with, and specialised in the conservation of historic buildings. In the past Stephen has been Chair of the RICS Building Conservation Forum and Chair of the RICS Building Surveying Faculty (as was). As such he has seen many changes and developments in the world of surveying. 

Having been a sole practitioner in the 1990s, from 2000 till 2021 Stephen was a partner in a mixed Architects and Surveyors practice. He has seen the benefits of cooperation between professions and learned much from various collaborations.

In recent years Stephen decided to step back from day-to-day surveying and from 2022 he has developed and delivered training days. Stephen is keen to deliver quality, interactive group training.

Stephen is excited to launch the Heritage Conservation Community. The idea being to bring together diverse professions involved in conservation, through an online community. This will be cross-professional and international.

Apart from all of the above, Stephen is an artist and is now taking on commissions and selling his work. He is delighted to have recently been accepted as a Member of the Society of Architectural Illustrators. Stephen is developing his art website, but his email for art is stephen@abart.co.uk
